Although it has already become a trend to watch movies on computers, there are still some people who love to watch them on TV. For them, what counts the most is the high picture quality displayed in a large HD screen. They don't care about the convenience, but a visual feast.

So for those people, if they want to play an iTunes M4V movies on their TV, either should they own an Apple TV or a DVD creation software, like iDVD. For those with Apple TV, they can sync iTunes to their home TV so to play the movies on it. For those with iDVD, what they should do first is to burn the movie to a DVD so to play it on TV with DVD player.

But here comes a problem, that is, iDVD doesn't support DRM protected iTunes M4V files. In order to import the movies to iDVD, you need to convert them into the formats that iDVD can recognize, like MP4MOV, before burning. In that case, a M4V converter becomes a must.

Tune4mac iTunes Video Converter Platinum is a professional M4V video converter to help mac users convert DRM protected iTunes purchased or rental M4V to MP4, MOV which can play on iPhoneiPodPSP, Zune, Gphone, iRiver, Xbox360, etc.

creative-zen-touch-2-android-0.jpg

This new Creative Zen Touch 2 has a 3.2-inch touch screen and is running the Éclair variation of Android (like the tabs). It's Bluetooth friendly, meaning that you can hook it up to your favourite Bluetooth enabled headphones for wireless music on the go.

The Zen Touch 2 also has a built-in web browser and Wi-Fi connectivity, along with a built-in 2-megapixel camera making this a social media player.

There's also GPS and compass features on board as well as composite video-out, an accelerometer, a microSD slot and FM Radio.

Three options will become available in December-- an 8 GB version without GPS for £ 149.99, a 16 GB version without GPS for £159.99 and an 8 GB version with GPS for £ 159.99. Sadly and weirdly, there's no mention of a 16 GB version with GPS, which would have undoubtedly been the winner.

iphone-table.jpg

What's better than an iPhone, or even an iPad for that matter? How about a table with full multi-touch capabilities that just requires a simple cable connection from your iPhone?

That's exactly what the guys at Table.Connect (their website isn't currently up and running) are demonstrating in the video on the next page. The heck with Microsoft's $12,500 Surface, a similar table with touch capabilities -- this is something that a lot of iOS fans will eat up.

There's no word on availability or pricing yet. What do you think about it?

alarm.jpgThe iPhone’s native clock app certainly leaves something to be desired, and the iPad didn’t even ship with one. Now that apps can run in the background with iOS 4 – already available for iPhones, and coming soon to the iPad – there are quite a few free alarm clock apps that will come in handy. The iPad’s large screen also makes for an ideal nightstand clock, and there are a few apps that take full advantage of that.

For the time being, until iOS 4 is made available to iPad users, be sure to launch the app before you go to sleep if you want to use your iPad as an alarm clock.

The following is a collection of some free alarm clock apps for iPhone and iPad.

Waku Free

Waku Free is a quirky alarm clock app for the iPad and iPhone that sets itself apart from the rest of the apps with its unique graphics. Waku is also a cut above the rest of the free apps because it allows you to use the music on your iPad as the sounds you’ll wake up to. That said, their own hilarious sound effects might help get your day started on the right note.

And don’t be put off by the bright screen – it actually has a switch that allows you to dim the lights and get some shuteye.

Nightstand Central

The free version of the iPhone and iPad app, Nightstand Central displays the time, date and weather of the location of your choice. The alarm can be set to the sound of church bells, a traditional alarm clock and a dial up modem, amongst a few other sounds.

Nightstand Central has a snooze feature, and also gives you a variety of wallpapers to choose from, although one of the darker wallpapers will make more sense if you’ll be keeping the iPad or iPhone by your bed.

Night Stand Lite

Night Stand Lite, not to be confused with Nightstand Central, is another minimalist iPad and iPhone alarm clock with two choices in the app’s appearance. You can select the digital clock, with the colours of your choice, or set it to display 6 clocks set to 6 different timezones.

While it has no snooze option, you can choose which days you want the alarm to be repeated, and can wake up to a small selection of sounds from birds to glass breaking. Although waking up to the sound of glass breaking doesn’t really sound all that pleasant.

What’s your favorite iPhone or iPad alarm clock app? Why not share them with us in the comment?

Imagine if you lost every file on your computer in 10 minutes. Would you be able to recover your data from a backup, or would you spend the next several days trying to track down all of the information that you had stored on your hard drive? Windows Vista and Windows 7 make it easy to schedule backup sessions that will create copies of your most important data and transfer it to a secure place.

Before You Start

1. Select which files are most important. Certain things, such as computer games and applications, don't usually need to be backed up. You can easily reinstall these files from the original source in the event of a system failure. The most important documents to back up are items that you have created, like documents and photos.

 2. Consider creating multiple backups. Having one backup may seem like enough, but a problem that you were unaware of could be present on a backup copy. In this event, recovering your data without experiencing the same problem may be impossible. Maintaining a cycle of two or three different backups is usually a good policy.

 3. Decide how often you want to back up your files. If you use your computer daily for business, a daily backup of important files is a good idea. If you are a more casual user, a weekly backup may suffice.

Step by Step: Using Windows or a Backup Program

Step 1 Open the Start menu and click Control Panel.

Step 2 From the Classic View, open Backup and Restore Center. Using the new control panel, clickBack up your computer under the 'System and Maintenance' heading.

Step 3 Click the Back up files button from the Backup and Restore Center menu.

Step 4 Select where to store the backed up files. The first drop-down menu allows you to choose from local drives such as a second hard drive, a DVD, or a recovery partition on your current hard drive. The second drop-down menu lets you select a location that you can connect to via a network. If you do not see your desired backup destination, try selecting the Refresh option from the drop-down menu.

Choosing a drive for file backup

Step 5 Click the Next button after selecting your desired location.

Step 6 Select which types of files to back up, and then click the Next button to proceed.

Selecting file types for backup

Step 7 Assign a schedule to your backup so that Windows will know how often to create a new backup of your files. Click Save settings and start backup when you are ready to create your backup.

So do you know some others simple and efficient ways to backup data? If so, why not share them by using the comments below?

With a large screen and light weight, iPad seems to be an ideal device for us to watch movies and TV shows anywhere we are, lying in bed or on the go. However, Apple’s embargo on flash makes it difficult to find a lot of content to stream online.

But fortunately, there are still  some major websites and apps you can use to watch TV shows, movies, documentaries, and much much more on your iPad. Unfortunately, some of them can only be accessed from their country of origin, so not everyone can watch the latest network TV video on their iPad.

ABC (USA Only)

ABC is one of the few network channels that has a dedicated app [iTunes link] where you can watch full episodes on your iPad. ABC’s show list includes popular shows like Modern Family, Cougar Town and Grey’s Anatomy. They also have a separate app for news buffs who like to get the latest news from CBS.

The Ellen Show

If you’re a fan of The Ellen Show, you can watch clips from the latest episodes on the official website or by downloading the free app [iTunes link]. The iTunes app while compatible with the iPad has not been optimised for the larger screen. Of course this does not affect video playback.

TVCatchup (UK Only)

TVCatchup is one of the best websites for UK residents to watch TV shows live as they are aired. With BBC, ITV, Sky and much more, their iPad optimised site makes it easy to find what you want to watch. If you’d rather watch your favourite BBC shows at any time, you can use the BBC’s iPlayer.

National Geographic

Watch clips of up to 10 minutes in length on the National Geographic website on your iPad. Topics are varied from videos about animals, environmental issues, news, and kid-friendly videos, and much more.

Movies

Muviez [iTunes link] is a free iPad app that allows you to stream a small selection of independent shorts using your WiFi connection, and you can even download the videos to watch when you don’t have an internet connection. The only drawback to the app is that the longer documentaries and movies require a paid subscription – with no obvious way how to sign up for the subscription on the iPad.

NFB Films

NFB Films [iTunes link] brings over 1,000 Canadian films and shows to iPad users for free. Their channels include short films, classics, animated films and documentaries, amongst many others.

Education

The free app, BrainPOP [iTunes link] is a great resource for educational videos for kids. With science, social studies, english, math, arts and music, health and tech and engineering, they haven’t left anything out. A new video is added every day.

Vimeo & YouTube

Needless to say, if you want to watch user-generated content, the two best sites to go to are Vimeoand YouTube. While Vimeo doesn’t have a dedicated app like YouTube, their website is iPad ready.
